A Bold Progressive with a History of Advocacy
I was elected to the State Assembly in August 2011 in a Special Election for former State Representative Joe Parisi’s seat. Almost immediately, I was redistricted into a new district, the 76th Assembly District, which includes the Isthmus and parts of the northside, downtown Madison, the UW Campus and the near westside Vilas neighborhood.
I earned my law degree in 1995 from UW-Madison after receiving my undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. Prior to serving as your State Representative, I practiced law at several private law firms before becoming the Public Policy Director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
My husband, Jim, a professor of History and Environmental Studies, and I live on the near eastside of Madison, where I have lived for almost 25 years. We are the proud parents of two boys – Sam, a 6th grader, and Ben, a 2nd grader. Jim and I are both actively involved in the community and enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors with our two sons.
I have a life-long passion for advancing human rights, and have had the opportunity to live around the world and the country doing so.
